Are you an entrepreneur? Do you have an entrepreneurial spirit? Do you enjoy meeting other innovators? Do you love 80s music? Does the idea of networking with like-minded people followed by dancing in a laid-back, no velvet rope, fun old school NY club sound totally rad to you?
If any of this strikes a chord (pun intended), please join me for The Information Society Networking Mixer on Thursday, October 12th from 7 pm – 9 pm at at the legendary Manhattan dive nightclub The Pyramid Club NYC in Manhattan.
It is a unique event that I am hosting (it’s a dream come true*) that combines networking with entrepreneurs/freelancers and dancing to the 80s…
By way of background, in addition to running my advisory business Work with Candi Obrentz, I am the proud creator of RestoPresto the patented easily transportable wearable blanket. I completely changed careers from corporate to start-up when I discovered a gap in the market for a product like RestoPresto. I wanted the product for myself and since it did not exist, I decided to take matters into my own hands and create it. From scratch. Literally: from forming a business to prototyping to the Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign, intellectual property, logos, marketing, social media, press, launching an e-commerce store, manufacturing and everything in-between and onwards – all of the steps were necessary and critical. I did many things on my own and engaged specialists when necessary. In retrospect, I wish that I had someone like me to hire to help me work more efficiently, to avoid spinning my wheels and to connect the dots. Since I have been there and done that and truly love sharing knowledge, I apply my extensive experience and share my network to help others successfully accelerate a project. I find it incredibly rewarding to collaborate with people to bring their own ideas for products and services to life.
* So, back to the “dream come true”….as an entrepreneur and as someone who has literally been going to Pyramid Club for 23+ years, I was so excited to be invited by Maria Narciso, the club’s Promotions Manager, to host the 2nd Information Society Networking Mixer that I jumped at the chance. The opportunity to merge my love for connecting with people and my fave nightclub ever is totally tubular to the max!
Here is the 411: Bring business cards, an open mind and a full stomach (if you stay to dance, you will want to have eaten dinner before the event). This is a casual, no dress code, plastic cups, anything goes type of place reminiscent of how Avenue A was in the 80s.
There is no cover; 21+ w/ID; cash bar (no credit cards) and immediately after the networking session, the dance floor opens up to DJ TM.8 spinning 80s (American, New Wave, British…ALL of it) so STAY TO BOOGIE!
You can RSVP directly to the Facebook event page if you wish (click on the hyperlink) and of course, message me with any questions. candi@candiobrentz.com
I would love to see you there!
PS: The 1st event was hosted by inspirational author and speaker Cara Alwill Leyba (of The Champagne Diet & Girl Code) and we had a blast!
